Event - West Runton Residential

28 September to 2 October 2015

The children in Year 4, 5 and 6 had a wonderful week when they visited West Runton in Norfolk for a five day residential trip. They were accompanied by Mr Leonard (teacher), Miss Moore (teacher) and Mr Riley (Parent Governor).

They set off from Scalford on a gloriously sunny Monday morning, some with trepidation but the majority with great excitement. They returned on the Friday all extremely tired but with great memories having experienced a wonderful week.

Asked if they would like to go again, the reply was 'yesssss'! During the week they took part in coastline activities such as rock pooling and crab catching as well as other organised events including potholing, climbing, zip wire, Leap of Faith to name but a few.

The disco was very popular as was the go-karting. The weather could not have been better, with blue skies all week. The week was full of challenges which will help to equip the children with the skills to recognise risks, assess them sensibly and react positively. While it is possible to learn some basic concepts in class, there is no substitute for real experience in the wider world.

School residential trips provide a great opportunity for pupils to gain such experience and face a range of challenges that can contribute significantly to their personal development. The staff at the Kingswood Centre where the children stayed, complimented the children on their behavior and conduct during the week and reported that they were one of the nicest groups that had visited in recent times.
